This is the progress I have made so far all on the same bit of canvas part of which I cut off and burned since it did not contribute anything to the idea I had in mind… so, it’s a 24 x 24″ oil painting on cotton canvas begun in March and (hopefully) completed in April (which is almost upon us!) For me it represents a meeting of two great minds, two fascinating historical personages, one from the ancient Greek world, the other from 19th century France, and it’s set against a 20th-21st century cityscape (could be any modern city – they all look the same!)
