Should’ve posted this yesterday but couldn’t think of an appropriate title. Basically I s’pose it’s a sort-of skewed dedication to an art scene which is fundamentally and institutionally anti-democratic. It’s an exploitative scene in which a tiny handful of artists enjoy celebrity, riches, historical recognition, and all the trappings, at the expense of a great many equally talented impoverished unknowns… Yes, I suppose there is a price to pay for fame and recognition too. But Warhol was wrong: everybody isn’t getting their 15 minutes. Maybe it has to be that way…
