Epicurus in the Garden

Grisaille on canvas, 14 x 18″, unfinished

Based loosely on photos of Roman copies of Greek busts this is meant to be a portrait of the famous ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus, a gentle and kindly-looking man, standing in the grounds of his school, which was known as The Garden. Started this piece about 15 months ago but have never gotten round to working on it since, let alone finishing it! I post it here for the record.
