Oil paint on canvas panel, 16 x 12″, August 29 2017
Before any drawing / painting I smeared cold pressed linseed oil over the face of the panel working on the principle that oil and water don’t mix. That way the rain would have less of a chance of washing off the colours. But I’m still waiting for a downpour. At present it seems that every time I go out the rain hides!
These branches, by the way, are huge and must weigh several tons. I know if I took the chainsaw to one of them that it would thunder to the ground with a mighty thud! Funny stuff Sycamore… it snaps very fast and falls fast. Very different to Spruce, for instance.
