Sunlit view

Laneway to the main road

Oil paint on 12 oz cotton canvas, 28 x 22″, September 20-21 2017

This piece is really just a sketch… the subject – a sunlit portion of the lane from the house to the main road – is incredibly complex and difficult to paint… that is, it is difficult to simplify a view of such complexity… visually there is all sorts of stuff going on and I think I may repaint it at some future date only this time with bolder slabs of colour… that said though, it was an interesting experience!

    1. Autumn seems to have arrived early in this part of Ireland – the mid north west – the rains have given some of the big exposed trees such a battering that already they look wintry!
