Portrait of a woman (in progress)

Oil paint on 12 oz cotton canvas, 18 x 24″, to be finished and signed in due course

Have been working on this painting for several days and have a few details and heightenings to add / make… a copy from a photograph… difficult to get a likeness and a well-painted one from a photographic image… especially if you’ve never seen the actual person… photographs do lie and those that slavishly copy them, which is what I’ve done here, 🙂 , do not lessen the lie! It really does help to know the person, to have seen the person, to know something of their character… but there you go, no excuses.
