oil on 12 oz cotton canvas, 56 x 16″, Mar 16-17 2018
This painting is based on pen and ink and wash drawings I did in 1997. Always meant to make a painting of the subject, a 180 degree panorama of the Arigna mountains: Kilronan, Corrie, and the Iron mountain (far distance.) A couple of things I should mention, (just in passing!) Corrie mountain, the large hill opposite, is now covered with windmills! They call it a windmill ‘farm’. And behind me on Kilronan mountain an industrial-scale mega quarry ‘farms’ and processes the mountain rock. So the place is now not at all what it was in 1997…
