Such a cool tree
Thanks! I love alders, and they’re everywhere, sitting with their roots in boggy ground sucking up the water… very useful tree! I sometimes wonder, however, whether in truth they sustain rather than alleviate boggy ground conditions… My imagination tells me, Remove the alders and you will thereby also remove the bogs; that the two need each other; that the one cannot be without the other. But of course I know (do I really?) that that’s nothing but fanciful thinking.
I love this drawing.
Thanks May… this old tree hasn’t yet broken into leaf… hundreds of new shoots but it’s still quite cold here…
