Pencil and watercolour sketch on Canson paper, approx 10 x 10″, a few days ago.
This was the original which sparked off a number of ‘Pink’ paintings resulting in ‘Map of the known universe’. It’s just an idea jotted down… a cartoon or illustration… a starting point. Allusions to Delacroix, ‘Liberty leading the people’, and Manet, ‘Olympia’, amongst other stuff… the sexy unclad nude image is based on some Internet photo of Hitomi Tanaka, a very interesting Japanese pornographic actress. The figures in the background are based on Internet images of riot police in Russia and Hong Kong doing what they do best!
