This is merely an underpainting, an initial covering of the support which is, in this particular case, white Arches oil paper. I quickly dashed it off and am leaving it to dry for a day before continuing work on it.
I haven’t used this support, i.e., Arches oil paper, before. The reason I am using it now is: stored paintings on canvas take up a great deal of room which I can’t spare!
The painting will have a stormy sky, it was very stormy the day I took snapshots in the vicinity, but it will also refer to the amazing sky of El Greco’s in his painting View of Toledo.
Th size of the paper is A3, hoping I can get hold of A2 if things go well.
