This is a painting about the season of summer not the girl’s name.
Changed the title but summer, to my mind, is still a goddess, and a very welcome one.
I use the term ‘goddess’, by the way, purely figuratively.
I don’t believe in religious gods and goddesses. Even as a child I never believed.
I’m not superstitious but I tolerate those that are. So, I’m an old atheist and something of a nihilist too. Oh, and an anarchist and idealist – still! The only philosophers I ever really admired were the Cynics: Diogenes, Bion, Demonax, and a few others.
But I digress…
Looking at this small painting I am reminded somehow of Giorgio de Chirico, his so-called ‘metaphysical’ period paintings.
