It is a photo. We don’t often get proper summers out here in the north west of Ireland but this year the summer was so good that some fields got mown… some fields I hadn’t noticed in previous years, probably because the cut grass quickly turned golden yellow in the sunshine. (Usually it rains so cut grass stays green!) But this photo was to do with the way more distant stuff is bluer the further away it is from nearby stuff. I took the photo because this peculiar golden field attracted my attention. Later I worked up an oil sketch and then a painting based on it. (Which I have since tweaked!)
